2015 Audi Q7 – Vehicle that will never grow old

Despite being relatively expensive and a full-sized premium SUV, the 2015 Audi Q7 remained one of the bestselling SUVs in the world even when the economic crisis kicked in during 2008 and 2009. Selling almost 300,000 units from 2005 to 2013, Audi demonstrated that there is a real hunger for large monster SUVs in basically every corner of the earth, but it was not an easy task to make a vehicle that will so vividly and instantly mesmerize the whole automotive world.

The 2015 Audi Q7 is developed on the same architecture used for the smaller Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg. Though it was available in Europe and in some other places in 2005, the Audi hit the States in 2007 and since then it’s become one of the most impressive full sized SUVs ever sold on the market.

First versions were powered by large V8 engines and Audi even brought a diesel version to the USA.

The biggest changes occurred in 2011 when Audi redesigned the Q7. Styling was updated with the introduction of the new LED front and rear lights, a different grill, and more pronounced front air intakes. Also, the interior has been slightly changed and the large V8 engines were discontinued. With the new fuel saving technologies, the Audi Q7 was once again one of the most impressive SUVs out there. On the most frugal versions Audi claimed a fuel efficiency of 37 mpg, while some of the independent journalists who tested the car actually confirmed that the Audi is capable of such a feat.

For the 2015 Audi Q7 nothing has been modified extensively. The engines choices remain two 3.0 liter turbocharged petrol units developing 280 HP or 333 HP (the same engine used in the sporty Audi S5), while the ones in need of diesel power can opt for the 240 HP powerful three liter V6 TDI.

The 2015 Audi Q7 is considered to be a luxury and modern SUV. With the additional modifications to the Audi MultiMedia Interface (MMI), the Germans equipped the car with features such as Internet connectivity, access to live streaming music services, and to various different apps that help with driving. Of course, leather interior with the powered seats, powered sunroof opening, and basically every other element, can be additionally garnished with the high-end audio equipment. Now, this is not a concert hall, but the 2015 Audi Q7 can be equipped with an incredible 1000 watt, 14 speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system which is possibly the best you can get in a vehicle. Navigation and other services are easily controlled with the modern interface which somehow makes the driver forget he is driving a vehicle that was revealed almost 10 years ago.

Even though the Audi Q7 is one of the oldest SUVs in the market, the looks of the thing, interior equipment, driving characteristics, and its fuel efficient and modern engines somehow keep it rolling better than anyone would have expected. The only segment where the Q7 falls beside the competition is in the “weight department”. It really needs to go on a diet as it tips the scales at 5,180 lbs for the version with the diesel engine installed. However, thanks to a wonderful Quattro four wheel drive, this full-sized SUV easily trails a path where only a handful would dare. It was considered just as a large SUV for the tarmac but it has some grunt and courage to shows its teeth off road as well.
