2015 Audi S4 – Better looking, better driving and better equipped than ever before
Coming from the most advanced Volkswagen Group R&D centers, the Audi S4 has become one of the most important, most sought after and the most complete small sedans on the market. It has elegant looks, nice equipment and a very powerful engine. Despite its clear sporty pedigree hiding behind the letter S in its name, the S4 is based on the A4 that was introduced back in 2008. It is safe to say that the car with the year 2015 as its final model year is in the best shape of its life. Audi corrected all of the slight issues this model had the years before and the 2015 Audi S4 even received new age engines and very good updated infotainment equipment.
So what’s new for its final year of production!?
Audi made a rather obvious redesign of the model a year before. The lights changed, so did the grill, while at the same time the interior and the engine department received much needed improvements. That said, the 2015 Audi S4 has a more aggressive stance with angular front lights, pronounced grill and rather nice looking LED day lights. At the first glance, the interior remained the same. The main theme of the dash continued but Audi updated the infotainment system which is now complemented with Google Earth integration, high-resolution 3D satellite navigation and updated MMI system with Audi Connect. This way, the Audi S4 basically stayed connected with the modern world. The occupants can access the Internet, connect their mobile phone to an in-car entertainment system, access their most important apps and even get Facebook and Twitter updates in real time. Every new-gen vehicle offers this capabilities and Audi just took this a step further by integrating a redesigned and updated infotainment system.
However, the real advantage of the 2015 Audi S4 in comparison with any other A4 is its engine, suspension setup and engine sound. The car has been fine tuned to provide exceptional and exciting driving characteristics. By additionally lowering and tightening up the suspension (a bit more rigid roll bars), the Audi S4 became more precise and more focused than ever before. It is not a hard-core performance vehicle like the RS4 Avant, but it provides perfect balance between performance, luxury and comfort. Its new gen three liter turbocharged V6 produces 333 HP and 440 Nm of torque which is enough to propel the vehicle to 60 mph in five seconds. Maximum speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.
With its updated transmission, aerodynamics and eco tires, the S4 provides exceptional fuel efficiency. It is estimated that the EPA ratings are 18 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway (a slightly worse for the model with the manual tranny).
All in all, the 2015 Audi S4 is available with two different trim levels (Premium or Premium Plus) extensive additional equipment and the best safety equipment there is. As 2015 is its final model year, the Audi S4 will be soon replaced with the new gen model, but this one still represents possibly the best deal in the small sedan premium segment.
