2015 Buick Envision – American car built for China!

Creating a modern mid-sized SUV is a rather tough project to endeavor at these times. Don’t get us wrong, thanks to the possibility of sharing all the components with other similar cars, the creation of a SUV is not a tough job physically, but it is extremely tough to market the product after it has been built. Buick is one of the manufacturers who currently cruise through the adventure of a mid size SUV creation. Its newest car is called the 2015 Buick Envision and it will arrive on a turf where dozens of different Japanese, European, Korean and American SUVs rule.

You may remember this car from a few months ago when everyone was accustomed to its prototype named the Anthem. However, the predictions were correct, Buick renamed the Anthem and the new name for the Chinese model is the Envision. We believe that the car will reach the States with that same name too, but no one really knows when.

While developing a whole new platform for mid-sized SUVs, GM looks forward to the opportunity to develop a range of similar SUVs, based on this 2015 Buick Envision. Other similar SUVs will possibly be the GMC Terrain and the Chevy Equinox. Besides getting similar, if not the same, under-the-metal tech as the GMC and the Chevy, the Buick Envision has the most striking good looks of the lot. Thanks to their new design philosophy which brought a slew of rather special vehicles, the three shield logo adorns the SUV which carries an aerodynamically enhanced body with a prominent grills and headlights that echo those from the Regal and a rear side which actually does not share much of it styling causes with the “in house” SUVs. There is nothing wrong with it. Actually, getting similar lines as the most beautiful cars Buick has in its lineup means that we will enjoy the rakishly decorated Buicks in the future as well.

So, we know that the 2015 Buick Envision is larger than the Encore, but smaller in comparison with the large three-row Enclave.

Thanks to a roomy cabin, the Envision follows the footsteps of its SUV brothers. Luxury ambient is nicely decorated with leather, piano black accents and other contemporary decorations, while the most impressive feature is clearly a large screen on the console, and analog clock and chrome accents that decorate basically everything. More (or less for some) importantly, the 2015 Buick Envision is available with a host of modern features such as Intellilink infotainment system, panoramic roof, Satellite radio and host of safety features such as advanced cruise control, blind spot monitoring system and advanced navigation software. It is clear that Buick means business with this car. They offered it with an all wheel drive system than can transfer power from rear to front in an instant. What’s more, the system is able to transfer all power to the front or to the back which is pretty astonishing for the electronically controlled four wheel drive in this price segment. As it was known before, Buick offered the Envision with a two liter 256 HP turbocharged engine which is mated with the new six speed automatic transmission. The Chinese model is able to hit 62 mph in 8.4 seconds and provide the fuel consumption figures of 27 mpg which is also great. The US version will probably get a larger 2.5-liter engine as well, but this one will be the one everyone should choose.

All in all, the Buick Envision when revealed, it will reportedly hit the US in 2015 as a 2016 model. The car is, unfortunately, aimed at the Chinese market, but US customers will get a number of them also. What’s more, it would not be strange if GM rebadged the 2015 Buick Envision and sold it in Europe as an Opel vehicle.
