2015 Buick Grand National – It’s Back and Better than Before

The Buick Grand National was the epitome of power and speed in the mid-1980s. During the Grand National’s days of glory, the car had the one of the most advanced technology that a car could offer such as integrated cell phones and a touch screen. In order for the Grand National V6 to become a V8 alternative, the Buick engineers developed an electronic sequential fuel injection, a ceramic impeller wheel turbo and a distributor-less ignition.

During its prime, the Buick Grand National was capable of outmatching Chevrolet’s two-seater race-car in the quarter-mile dash. In the year of 1985, Indy cars that were powered with Buick’s turbocharged V6 engines qualified 1-2 in the Brickyard event. The 1980’s Grand National stood at the peak of most American sports cars in its category.

Coming to the present day, Buick is reviving the renowned nameplate for the year of 2015 together with the turbocharged, inter-cooled GNX model. The cars will have a new RWD Alpha platform that was introduced in Cadillac’s ATS. It is also rumored that the 3rd-generation CTS and the 6th-generation Camaro will have this platform as well.

Not much detail has been released by GM but the all-new Grand National will have a new body design. Unlike the blocky predecessor, the 2015 Buick Grand National is sleeker in design. The front grille includes Buick’s iconic appearance with HID headlights that are sculpted similarly to Acura’s TL model. The rear end is completely different than any GM vehicles in the market. The headlights have a slight resemblance to Koenigsegg’s Agera R taillight. The overall wheelbase appears wider and possibly longer based on the pictures that have been released.

The 2015 Buick Grand National sport offers an exquisite interior. Buick included lavish accents with high quality leather with the intention of placing this car with the leading pack of the luxury sedans in the market. There is plenty of cabin space that is quiet and comfortable. The rear seats also have plenty of leg room for the passengers. Included as standard is the surround sound multimedia system with satellite radio, parking sensors integrated and a large LCD screen in the central console to control that control most of the car’s features.

The all-new 2015 Buick Grand National is brought with two difference engine options: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder engine that produces 272 hp and a 3.6-liter V6 engine that outputs 321 hp, the same amount that comes in Cadillac’s ATS model. The car will come with a transmission catalog that includes manuals for the turbo engines and automatics for all the other engine types.

The 2015 Buick Grand National will have a base MSRP of $30,000, while the higher trim levels will be offered at a higher price. The sales are predicted to begin in the late 2015, but have yet to have an official release date.
