The 2015 Buick Regal: A Legend is Reborn

The new 2015 Buick Regal is available in four trim levels,

  1. Base-level Regal
  2. The mid-level Premium l
  3. An upscale Premium ll
  4. High performance Regal GS

The base version which carries a price tag of $31,000 contains a lot of standard equipment. Along with the 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, the 2015 Buick Regal offers heated front seats, automatic dual-zone climate control, audio controls on the steering wheel, front seats with dual power, camera for reversing and other standard features like power accessories and keyless entry.

Moving on to the mid-level Premium I which carries a price tag of $32,900 gives you keyless entry along with a push button ignition and a remote starter, a heated steering wheel, and rear parking assist. Also, one of the major features of the Premium I version is the sedan’s eAssist hybrid engine.

Stepping up to the Regal Premium ll, which costs $35,000 gives you xenon headlights, a Bose audio system and Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system with a touchscreen (8-inch) navigation console.

Last on the line up, and by no means the least is the Regal GS. This sporty version carries a tag of $38,200 and offers front parking assist, high-performance Brembo brakes, sport suspension, distinctive front and back fascias and dual exhausts.

Some of the prominent options in the Regal are an eAssist hybrid engine, and all-wheel drive, 6-speed manual transmission, which is only available on the GS. Some of the safety features also include a forward-collision alert system, a rear cross –traffic alert system and blind spot monitoring system.

Safety Aspect

There are six airbags to protect the occupants. The last two versions, Premium ll and high performance Regal GS, contains two extra air bags for the passengers in the back seat. Stability control, anti-lock braking system and emergency telematics by Onstar are also part of the Regal. Other options include a forward-collision alert system, a rear cross–traffic alert system, blind spot monitoring system and lane departure warning system.

The Buick Regal went through National Highway’s Traffic Safety Administration tests and earned 5 stars in crash testing.

Fuel Aspect

The 2015 Buick Regal comes with two engines. Almost every Regal model is loaded with a 2.0 turbocharged 4-cylinder which produces 259 horsepower and torque of 295 lb-ft. The default 6-speed automatic gives 21 miles per gallon inside the city and on the highway it gives 30 miles per gallon. Buyers who choose all-wheel drive get 19 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway. In the upper end, the six speed manual transmission offered only in the GS brings the output to 20 miles per gallon in the city and 31 miles per gallon on the highway.

For people who do not want to spend too much on the fuel, the option of eAssist powertrain is always available. It is a very fuel efficient engine which offers subtle hybrid technology and is only available on the Premium I.  This 4-cylinder 2.4 engine produces 182 horsepower and gives 25 miles per gallon in the city and 36 miles per gallon on the highway.

My enthusiasm and purchase anticipation was very quickly eliminated once I attempted to read some of the reviews. The horrible grammar, lack of sentence structure and proper use of terminology was a quick turn-off. Whoever wrote these reviews is fundamentally illiterate, unable to write a cohesive and understandable script. Sorry, but I cannot be enticed to purchase a vehicle when I can’t read the reviews for a total lack of literacy!
