2015 Chevrolet Cruze – Nicely styled and competitively priced sedan
Chevy Cruze has been discontinued in Europe. Actually, Most of the Chevrolet models have been discontinued from Europe except for the Camaro and the Corvette. It’s not that the Europeans did not like the Cruze, but Chevrolet business in Europe was not good altogether. As we all know, they are doing well in the US and the small compact sedan Cruze is not an exception. Being adequately sized, well equipped and competitively priced, the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze made its place on the market as one of the most sought after vehicles.
The vehicle has been slightly redesigned for the 2015 model year. Receiving more angular front lights with a more prominent grills and slightly redesigned rear lights, the Cruze came in line with the newest Chevy vehicles. As the new model is up to revealed in a year or so, the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze is the best yet to leave the GM’s Ohio factory where it was built.
In comparison with the models sold elsewhere in the world, the Cruze for the US received a Z link rear suspension, while the cars sold previously in Europe and Asia had independent rear suspension. Despite being slightly different in comparison with the versions sold in the rest of the world, the 2015 Chevrolet Cruze actually comes much more equipped in every trim level. For the 2015 model year, the Cruze can be equipped with the Siri voice recognition software and Chevy MyLink in-car entertainment system. The models for the US also received front laminated windshield as sound deadening hardware, and they were more thoroughly equipped with other NVH (Noise, Vibrations and Harness) deadening materials.
GM offers the Cruze with four basic trim levels (LS, LT, LTZ and Eco) with the base one offering amenities such as A/C, power locks and power windows as well as 1.8 liter inline four petrol engine good for 138 HP. The 2015 Chevrolet Cruze is also available with the 1.4 liter turbocharged engine developing 138 HP (its a bit more fuel efficient at 28 mpg city in comparison with the 1.8 liter engine). However, the most fuel efficient engine is a two liter diesel (the first Chevy diesel vehicle offered in the US since the Eighties) with 148 HP.
Though the Cruz is on the market for quite some time, the buyers are still eager about it. Hatchback and caravan versions are also in offer and Chevrolet even sells a version with the RS styling features that add much more sporty appeal to the vehicle. All in all, 2015 is possibly the last model year for the first gen 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. We expect a new one in the next few months but this one still remains strong and highly competitive in the compact sedan segment. Aggressive styling in association with rather nicely equipped interior and good fuel efficiency of the engines proves that the compact sedans are possibly the most important vehicles in the US. This one is not a premium vehicle, although it offers some high-tech gizmos such as very nicely executed infotainment system called MyLink.
