2015 FORD Explorer – The Crossover Your Family Needs
The Explorer by Ford has been a reliable name for families for two and a half decades. This year it is no different; in fact, the company has come out with the most luxurious and largest model till date. The latest Explorer gives you three rows of seating & three choices for engines – Just get the one that best suit your needs, besides that, there is plenty of cargo space where kids can put their stuff. So, if you talk about an ideal vehicle for a family, 2015 FORD Explorer is the name to rely on. It is a perfect fit for every family.
Take your Explorer out on the road and it will be an extremely pleasant experience, all because of its extremely comfortable and smooth ride, with no noise inside what so ever. The cabin is actually very quiet. If you are concerned about how much power this vehicle can produce, a V6 that comes, as standard in this vehicle, should be enough to satisfy most of the drivers, however, Ford gives you two other engine options, which we don’t often see with these kinds of vehicles. If you prefer economy to performance, than a four-cylinder turbocharged engine is what you need to go for. EPA estimates that this vehicle will give 23 mpg combined. However, owner who prefer a bit of speed and powerful performance while towing, the company offers a turbocharged V6 with the Explorer Sport.
With all the positives, this 2015 Ford Explorer SUV has a bit of negatives too. Unlike other crossover SUVs that feel smaller than they are while driving, the Explorer feels a bit heavy and makes it a bit difficult to park and see out. The interior is not one of the ideal ones; especially the room inside the vehicle isn’t much for its class. The second row has limited headroom while the legroom in the third row is adequate only for small kids. However, there is sufficient room for cargo; the vehicle has more space than its competitors.
The Vehicle comes standard with a 3.5-L V6 engine, which is capable of producing up to 290 hp and the torque of 255 lb-ft. The transmission offered with this vehicle is six-speed automatic. You can either go for front or all-wheel drive with this particular engine. The base version of the Explorer can go from stand still to 60 mph in less than 8.5 seconds. With 4-wheel drive the figure comes down to 8.1 seconds. With front-wheel drive, the V6 gives 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, whereas with the all-wheel drive the figure doesn’t go down too much and still maintains the efficiency with 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
The other two engines available with the 2015 FORD Explorer are four-cylinder 2.0L engine, which is optional with front-wheel drive and a 3.5-L V6 that is available only with the 4WD Explorer Sports.
