2015 GMC Acadia – Luxuriously garnished modern SUV
2015 GMC Acadia is a young, modern high-tech SUV that was constructed on the GM’s Lambda platform specifically developed for the GM’s full-sized SUVs. Besides the GMC Acadia, this platform is the root for every other large GM SUV including the discontinued Saturn Outlook, Buick Enclave and Chevrolet Traverse.
As it is based on a new high-tech platform, the 2015 GMC Acadia received a uni-body construction. This is basically the first GMC SUV with uni-body construction and it is the first GMC that brings impressive and thorough luxury equipment on-board. Reviews of independent drivers and users of this car suggest that the GMC Acadia is a vehicle that brought a new look to the GMC brand. The impressive interior with three rows of seats and soft-touch plastics installed on almost every surface inside confirmed that the GMC slightly changed their relationship with the costumers. The usual customers they are after will cherish the newly designed and generously equipped cabin and more importantly, the GMC will attract new buyers to the brand. The Acadia has been on the market since 2007, but the new generation vehicle released in 2013 has fully exploited the advantages of the Lambda platform. The Acadia gained a much more attractive exterior with an aggressively styled front end dominated by a large grill. For the 2015 model year, the main changes include three new color palettes called Dark Sapphire Blue, Crimson Red and Midnight Amethyst. Besides them, the 2015 GMC Acadia is available with beautifully styled 20 inch aluminium wheels and a few different exterior decorations which can be opted for.
As it was the case two years ago, the 2015 GMC Acadia is powered by a 3.6 liter V6 engine developing 275 HP. This engine is the only engine available for the Acadia and it seems that GM will not employ any V8 engines for Lambda platform vehicles. That said, it wouldn’t be a surprise if GM integrated a turbocharged V6 for this car as one of the main drawbacks of this large SUV is the lack of power in some instances. On the other hand, fuel consumption is better in comparison with other more powerful counterparts. Six speed automatic transmission simply is the way to go on this vehicle and the GM even states that this transmission alone improved fuel consumption by more than 4 percent.
One of the best features for the 2015 GMC Acadia is its impressive safety system. GMC developed a whole new central front air-bag system which protects all occupants at all times. This air-bag deploys from the inboard side of the driver seat and separates the driver and the passenger thus additionally protecting both passengers. Besides the passive safety systems, the GMC Acadia received impressive electronic safety systems such as Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Both systems provide exceptional safety in real time.
Being the part of the GM, the 2015 GMC Acadia received a full on board On Star infotainment system that can be connected to the Internet and it even benefits with all apps available for the GM’s infotainment systems.
