2015 HYUNDAI Sonata – All You Need
For the year 2015, Hyundai has redesigned Sonata’s look and gave it a bigger cabin, providing more space to the occupants. The company has added an all-new ECO trim level which comes with a 1.6-L four-cylinder turbocharged engine, however this year, the performance oriented trim 2.0T’s horsepower is comparatively lower.
2015 Hyundai Sonata has received a lot of love from the buyers in the past with its decent performance, elegant style, good build quality and lots of standard features. With all those admirable qualities, Sonata came head to head with some of the famous names like the Camry and Accord. Now with the arrival of New Year, the 2015 HYUNDAI Sonata has announced itself with some major changes.
For 2015, the company has introduced the Eco Trim which comes with a 1.6-L four-cylinder turbocharged engine that does not only promise high performance but an excellent fuel economy as well. However, if you are more inclined towards the performance, then you are better off buying the 2.0T trim. However, the 2.0 this time round comes with 30 fewer HP. The engine for the base level trim is also low on horsepower but it is very subtle, 5 HP to be exact.
The models including Sport, Limited and SE are all equipped with a 2.4-L four-cylinder engine that is capable of producing up to 185 HP and 178 lb-ft of torque. All the models come with front-wheel-drive as standard. The transmission offered is a six-speed automatic for all the models expect the Eco. According to EPA estimates the fuel economy for the Sonata SE is 25 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. With Limited and sports trims however, the figures go down a little with 24 mpg in the city and 35 on the highway.
As far as the Sport 2.0T is concerned, the trim comes with a 2.0-L four cylinder turbocharged engine, which can produce up to 245 HP and the torque of 260 lb-ft. Keeping in mind the V6 rivals, the Sport 2.0T failed to impress in the driving test as the it went up to 60 mph in about 8.2 seconds. The fuel economy estimates according to EPA for this model are 23 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
Last on the list is the Eco which comes with a 1.6-L four-cylinder turbocharged engine that can produce up to 177 HP and the torque of about 195 lb-ft. The transmission offered with this model is a seven-speed automatic. Surprisingly, in the driving test, the Eco touched the 60 mph mark, almost a second quicker than the Sport version, which is quite impressive. The fuel Economy estimates for this trim are 28 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
Not only does the vehicle comes with several engine options, it also offers advanced features like collision warning system, blind-spot monitoring, cruise control and several others.
There is a lot to like about the 2015 HYUNDAI Sonata. The vehicle is a perfect combination of performance and comfort and is certainly worth an investment.
