2015 Land Rover Range Rover
The Land Rover’s grand old Defender will end its legendary path from the Second World War to the modern times. The Defender enabled the Land Rover to become what it is today and it was the springboard for every other vehicle Land Rover constructed and produced. Thanks to it, Land Rover introduced the world with the Range Rover – the most luxurious and the most capable off road vehicle that ever was.
Despite discounting the iconic Defender, Land Rover continued marching strong with their 2015 Land Rover Range Rover. Now, we remember that the car is lightened considerably in comparison with the old version (700 pounds), but it retained that strange combination of ruggedness and ultimate luxury only a Range Rover can provide. The 2015 Land Rover Range Rover is not much different than the one from the 2014 model year. Actually, the car remained the same except some additional touches that made it even better. The overall appearance was not modified in any way. Large front grille and rather aggressive headlights with nicely shaped LED daily lights still dominate the front end. Even though Land Rover did not make any visible changes on the exterior, they’ve offered much more comprehensive personalization program, including new 21 inch and 22 inch wheels. The color palette was also enriched with two new colors Aruba Silver and Kaikoura Stone.
More importantly than that, the engines all across the range were slightly enhanced – a V8 diesel known as a SDV8 has been slightly improved with the addition of 40 Nm and with the newly calibrated eight speed transmission, this engine remained one of the most fuel efficient in class. It is capable of delivering a mpg value of 32.5 which is better than majority of full sized SUVs out there. Other engines, including a supercharged V8 petrol engine and smaller base V6 petrol engine remained the same, but the re-engineered ZF transmission with 8 gears brings faster shifts and saved more than 10 pounds of weight thus additionally improving fuel efficiency.
With the most powerful V8 supercharged engine and full Autobiography equipment, Land Rover Range Rover is capable of delivering some serious performance. 62 mph are cracked in just over 5 seconds, but the fuel consumption isn’t very good despite the gearbox modification. EPA estimated it’ll be able for 13 mpg in the city, and almost 20 mpg on the highway. This, of course, is expected, especially because the Range Rover with such a big engine is equipped with the best equipment and it is by far the heaviest.
Considerable amount of mass of this car goes to the systems that allow it to be one of the best off roaders on earth. Permanent all-wheel drive with the slow gear and with the Terrain Response technology (which independently scans the surface and selects the proper mode for the suspension, drive and engine) enables the 2015 Land Rover Range Rover to become the ultimate luxury off roader which is as good on the heavy terrain as it is on the road.
Thankfully, with less weight, better brakes, air suspension on the top notch models and powerful engines, the Range Rover is good for rather impressive driving characteristics on the roads. Highway is the best place where you can stretch its legs and where you can enjoy that peaceful and cozy cabin cherished with the best leather, aluminum and wood.
The 2015 Land Rover Range Rover is the type of a vehicle that is amazingly capable on the terrain, yet it is absolutely fabulous on the roads.
