2015 Mazda MX-5
If there ever was a perfect driving car, it had to be a Mazda MX-5. With short overhangs, lightweight body, small engines, rear wheel drive and a wonderful manual gearbox, this car was basically a blueprint for a sports car any car enthusiast would like to have and drive. For the 2015 model year, Mazda had to do something special. This is the last model year of this gen car which debuted in 2005. We all know that Mazda revealed a new 2015 Mazda MX-5, but this one has one more year to live.
The 2015 Mazda MX-5 was designed and formed to be a formidable swan song for the mighty roadster we have known since 1989. Everything important stayed the same as before. The drive is at the back and the two liter naturally aspirated engine, now producing almost 170 HP, is at the front. The final iteration of this engine works flawlessly and beautifully with five or six speed transmission and it provides brisk and rather exciting performance for this car. Of course, we cannot expect super-car performance, but then again, this car is so affordable at the basics that the driving feel it provides for the money is absolutely better than the driving feel you experience in any of the supercars for the same amount of money.
With 25 years of exceptional history, Mazda introduced three versions of the 2015 Mazda MX-5 differed by the trim levels. The first one is Sport trim level which brings some of the basics like 16 inch wheels, dual exhaust, five speed manual transmission and some of the today’s luxury features such as radio, air conditioning and powered windows. This of course can be upgraded with Club trim level or a Grand Touring trim level both of which bring really amazing stuff such as limited slip differential, sport tuned suspension with Bilstein shocks and better aerodynamic features. It is not hard to guess that the trim level Club is the one which every gear-head would like to have on its Mazda MX-5.
Finally, Grand Touring is the latest trim level and apart from every single sporty feature taken from the Club, this trim level brings some real luxury features such as heated seats, leather inside, 7 speed Bose system and nicer aluminum wheels.
This of course means that Mazda offers more for the 2015 MX-5 and that this car is still in its prime time despite the new one being on the way. The 2015 Mazda MX-5 does not have any close competitors. Every other similarly sized vehicle is in a different market niche which means that the MX-5 is the cheapest, lightest and most powerful small sports car in its class. Every car enthusiast that ever had a chance to drive it witnessed the wonderful driving emotion this car provides in spades. The kart-like feel behind the wheel is highlighted by the fairly large bonnet, close short ratio gearbox and precise front end. These are the qualities every car enthusiast is proud off and the 2015 Mazda MX-5 offers all of that.
