If you are looking for a stylish car with exciting feature and good mileage, 2015 Mini Cooper Paceman is the answer. It is a three door hatchback compact vehicle with an oddly attractive look, it comes with very funky cosmetic updates, a jungle green color paint, and black light alloy wheels. Now let us get into the technical details about this car and see what it has on offer:
It has less cabin area and less cargo space. Offering around 38 cubic feet with rear seat backs folded. And if you roll up those seats, the capacity goes down to 11.1 cubic feet. Therefore, it is a comfortable ride for two people. Headroom is far better than the legroom. Front storage includes adequately sized door pockets, two cup holders, and a shades holder. Its wide windscreen makes the forward vision much better.
It comes with three choices of engines, 1.6 petrol, 1.6 diesel and 2.0 diesel. However, these are specific to trim, 120 hp petrol in the Cooper, 110 hp diesel in the Cooper D, a 188 hp petrol turbo in the Cooper S, the 141 hp diesel in the Cooper SD and the 215 hp petrol turbo John Cooper Works. These can be combined with an automatic gearbox but this will impact your fuel economy.
If you choose to go with front wheel drive, you will find Paceman very fuel efficient. Its fuel consumption is 35.7 mpg for the manual and 31.4 mpg for the automatic. It’s 0-62 mph is 7.5 seconds and 7.8 seconds for the manual and automatic respectively.
The Cooper Paceman is equipped with LED fog lights (optional on the base trim, standard on S and JCW versions), automatic bi-xenon headlights, automatic wipers that sense rain, cruise control, rear parking sensors, climate control and satellite navigation incorporated in a 6.5 inches central screen. It also has heated power-adjustable mirrors outside. The JCW also has standard sport-tuned suspension along with a sports exhaust system.
It is equipped with six airbags; two in front, two on the side and two curtains. The Paceman is an untested derivative of Mini Countryman so its security scoring is good with 80%+ for occupant safety, 63% for pedestrian safety and 71% for safety assists.
What it lacks?
There are several third generation Mini features that Paceman lacks like the reverse-view camera, autonomous braking, head-up display and automatic reverse parking technology.
2015 Mini Cooper Paceman has generally above average ratings with most car rating websites. US News Car Ranking section gives it a score of 7.3 deeming it a fun ride. 2015 Mini Cooper Paceman is a firm ride but lacks the claimed sportive edge. It is of course easy on the pocket in terms of fuel consumption but itself is quite an expensive ranging between $22,000 and $36,000. It is fun and stylish and makes the statement with its bold features.
