2015 Nissan Armada
Based on body-on-frame architecture, the 2015 Nissan Armada is one of the last true off road vehicles that put ruggedness, quality of ride on unforgiving terrains and robustness in front of on-road comfort and luxury. We might say that we like it this way, but the truth is that the sales of these vehicles are in constant drop since the car based crossovers took over the market. Nevertheless, Nissan is trying hard to keep the Armada young and fresh enough to compete with modern large SUVs on the market.
The 2015 Armada received some changes in comparison with the previous model year, but nothing too extreme has been changed. The Door trim got updated with a bit sleeker look and more “touch friendly” materials, while the 2015 Nissan Armada got redesigned 20 inch chrome wheels which add a bit of bling to the whole thing. This is a large vehicle. It is a full size SUV that can seat eight in some versions and, as it is based on the Truck Titan architecture, it is possibly the best hauler in the class. Official data say that the 2015 Nissan Armada can tow up to 9.000 pounds which is impressive no matter how you look at it.
This will, of course, be valued by drivers who spent their lifetimes riding large trucks. Here they’ll have a similarly capable machine but with some luxury amenities usually associated with more upmarket Nissan vehicles. We really mean luxury because the most luxurious car – with trim level named Platinum – comes equipped with a Navigational system and a DVD player with Hard Drive, eight inch monitor, two pairs of headphones, satellite radio and even a heated steering wheel. However, you’ll not go unnoticed even if you pick a grade lower SL trims which adds 20 inch rims, Bluetooth, USB and VTR Connectivity, as well as Homelink Universal Transceiver to the entry level SV.
Even though the Armada can be equipped with rather nice luxury features, some of which are sourced even from the Infiniti, the Armada is nowhere close to the driving characteristic of newly developed full sized SUVs. Due to its undeniable connection with the Titan truck and body-on-frame architecture, the ride in it is harsh, somewhat hard on the asphalt and even too uncomfortable in some other situations. However, the 2015 Nissan Armada is an ultimate utility vehicle. When it comes to transporting large things in its roomy interior over unforgiving terrains it is hard to imagine which car could beat it in this segment? Four wheel drive system works spectacularly well with the 5.6 liter V8 that churns out 317 HP and 385 lb ft of torque.
Apart from the four wheel drive car, the Armada can be had in the rear wheel drive configuration. That one is slightly cheaper and it offers a bit better fuel efficiency (if you could call better 13 mpg in the city and 19 on the highway).
