2015 Rolls Royce Ghost II – “Wait” That’s Worth It

2015 Rolls Royce Ghost II

It was 2009, Geneva Auto Show that the world first witnessed the beautiful Rolls Royce Ghost. As compared to Phantom, a less massive Ghost has been one of the top cars in the world for 5 years. Rolls Royce Ghost can be defined perfectly in two words – “clean” and “sophisticated”. According to some experts, the subsidiary of BMW has been a little slow in giving its fan something new. But this is quickly going to change with 2015 Rolls Royce Ghost II.

When it comes to engine, speed and power, it would not be wrong to say that little has changed. A twin-powered, 6.6-liter V-12 engine powers this year’s Ghost, which produces an approximate 563 horsepower and a torque of 575 lb-ft. Furthermore; fans can expect an 8-speed automatic transmission in the upcoming Rolls Royce Ghost. The gearbox is something more than automatic, it is connected to a satellite, which helps the transmission in predicting driver’s next move and adjusts the gears accordingly. Amazing? Well, we are just beginning. During the initial speed tests, this amazing sedan touched 60 mph in mere 4.7 seconds, while topping out a governed, staggering speed of 154 mph. People who know about Rolls Royce must be aware of the fact that the brand is known for its “waftability”, which at such high speed is hard to achieve. But as expected, Rolls Royce has done it with its latest Ghost II. It is going to be a car that you can drive for straight 12-hours without feeling any fuss. Company’s hallmark, “involving driving experience” combined with matchless “ride quality” is made possible with the latest “Dynamic Driving Package.”

Moving onto infotainment & telematics, much has been inspired by BMW lineup. The system understands voice commands, integrated superbly with the GPS and music system. Do you speak Mandarin? No problem, the best thing about the said system is that it can understand various different languages. Comparing the interior with previous Ghost model, a much more chrome and silver has been used around the instruments, giving interior a nobler look. Seating structure along with iDrive controller has been redesigned as well.

Talking about the exterior, it resembles to its 2-door Wrath coupe, especially when you look at the front lights and turn signals. The bumpers in all new 2015 Rolls Royce Ghost II have been redesigned to give a more innovative, round look. The sideline, which is called by the company as “waft line” is now much smoother and ends swiftly. The most impressive feature in Ghost II is the head-lighting system. The lights by default are on high beam but quickly get dimmer spotting oncoming traffic or vehicles.

2015 Rolls Royce Ghost II is likely to have a price tag of more than $250k. Whether the pricing can compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz S-class, Bentley Flying Spur and more is still to be seen but having said that, fans are already more than excited to hear about this year’s Ghost.
