2015 Subaru Legacy – More Refinement, Better Quality
Once again, the 2015 Subaru Legacy has been redesigned from the ground up. With a stellar exterior design that is made to turn heads, an interior that has been refined to a marvelous degree, a fuel economy that marks higher than the previous models and safety standards that are integrated seamlessly with intuitive technology, the all-new 2015 Legacy has made a bold statement claiming its world renowned name throughout society.
The 2015 Legacy has been recognized as the top midsize sedan in its segment that offers the largest cabin space for passenger volume in its class. The only car that has All-Wheel Drive as a standard, the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy still marks the company’s high quality in safety with its latest invention, EyeSight system and the Rear Vehicle Detection System that helps the driver to compensate for their blind spot, changing lanes and avoiding rear traffic collision with an alarm system set.
This model is offered in two different BOXER engines: the 4-cylinder and the 6-cylinder. The 2015 Legacy now has the Lineartronic CVT and its Symmetrical AWD as standard features. The 4 cylinder engine has a fuel economy that is manufacturer-estimated at 26 City/ 36 highway and the 6 cylinder comes at 20 City/ 29 highway. Both have far exceeded the fuel economy of its predecessors as well as surpassed many FWD midsize sedans in its class.
The 2015 exterior design was taken from its concept model from the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. It portrays both efficiency and sportiness. One of the main key pointers that the 2015 Legacy took from the concept model is the smooth, coupe-resembling profile in the front area that has combined the hexagonal grille design together with the bumper into one beautiful piece of art. The hood was made with aluminum in order to reduce the car’s overall weight on the front wheels, thus increasing its steering response.
The 2015 Subaru Legacy was manufactured with its windshield pulled to the front 2.0 inches in its base. By doing so, together with the higher seating hip points, side view mirrors that are door mounted, and the new front partition in the windows, the driver has an increased visibility. This has also provided the all-new 2015 Subaru Legacy with an aerodynamic efficiency increase of 10%, further increasing the car’s fuel economy.
The 2.5i 4 cylinder Legacy model comes standard with an Active Grille Shutter system that reduces the car’s wind resistance when it’s closed and increases its fuel efficiency. The 3.6R 6 cylinder engine comes standard with the all-new HID low beam headlights that give the car an iconic signature in the night. The taillights that are U-shaped, together with the brake lights, utilize LED bulbs in order to lower the power usage and give the 2015 Legacy a luxurious image. The limited trims offer exterior side mirrors with turn signals lights.
The interior of the 2015 Subaru Legacy has been designed to block multiple sources of noise, all thanks to the all-new acoustic windshield, panels that are thicker in precise locations (i.e. rear wheel apron, toeboard, inner fenders and the floor), material in the floor to dampen sounds, and the wide use of foam as an insulation throughout the car. All of this has brought the 2015 Legacy to give the driver and passengers a ride that is both quiet and smooth.
Subaru has upgraded their infotainment system for the 2015 Legacy with an all-new 6.2 Infotainment System that has FM/AM stereo; HD Radio; a single disc in-dash CD player; a Radio DBS (Data Broadcast System); a 6.2 inch multiple function touch display screen with a gesture control that is single touch; Subaru’s STARLINK feature that integrates smartphones into it with the Aha Infotainment system, iHeart Radio and Pandora; rear view camera; USB port with an auxiliary port; Bluetooth connectivity and an iPod control area. All of this has been brought with you the consumer in mind.
The 2015 Legacy has been set to have the largest cabin space in the midsize segment, at a measurement of 104.6 cu. Ft. The space increase in the cabin allows the driver and passengers to have more leg, hip, elbow and shoulder room. The trunk has also been given more space; 15.0 cu. Ft from its previous 14.7 cu. Ft in its predecessor.
The driver of the 2015 Legacy faces an instrument panel that is sporty and has two binocular style gauge pods that highlight the driver with its center LCD information display – On cars without the EyeSight driver-assistance it comes in only 3.5 inches; 5 inches on cars with EyeSight.
In the interior cabin, the 2015 Legacy includes soft touch materials, cushioning that is thicker in the armrests, center console and other interior designs that accentuate the interior cabin with a premium feel.
For the 2.5i Legacy, the driver is given a 10-way power driver seat; All-Weather Package (heated side mirrors, a de-icer windshield wiper, and front seats with three modes of heating); dual-zone climate control; leather wrapped steering wheel; air filtration system; fog lights and more.
The 3.6R Limited Legacy model, the highest luxury level in a Subaru Legacy, includes premium features in addition to those featured in the 2.5i level: two-position memory for the powered driver’s seat; rear air conditioning vents and a 12 harman/kardon speaker audio system with high end surround sound.
The 2015 Subaru Legacy’s 2.5i 4 cylinder engine is a double overhead cam (DOHC) 2.5 liter BOXER engine that outputs 175 hp with a torque peak of 174 lb-ft, but for more responsive performance, the torque has been spread over a more broad engine range of speed.
The all-new Legacy’s 3.6R 6 cylinder BOXER engine outputs an astounding 256 hp, 247 lb-ft, and can sustain a torque power of 225 lb-ft over the range of 2000 – 6000 rpm. This makes the 3.6R 2015 Subaru Legacy Limited have a smooth, yet responsive drive for the consumer.
The 2015 Legacy has as a standard the Lineartronic CVT, with the 6-cylinder model that uses a more high torque version. Any changes that are made to the CVT to reduce the friction bring more fuel efficiency to the Subaru Legacy. All the models also come with an Incline Start Assist, together with a Hill Holder System that is electronic and assists by holding the vehicle in place, only until the driver presses down towards the throttle.
For the 2015 Subaru Legacy, the MSRP for the 2.5i model is $21,695 while the 3.6R Limited starts at $29,595. The 2015 Legacy continues to carry Subaru’s legacy (pun intended) with its high quality safety standards and exquisite versatility and utility. It’s a car worth purchasing for consumers that want assurance in a car that will last.
