2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser

As one of the most rugged vehicles available on the market, the 2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser easily made place for itself on the large US car habitat. Despite its unusual looks and awkward dimensions, the Toyota FJ Cruiser is praised for its off road capability, roominess and a long list of additional equipment which differentiates it from the rest of the off road fleet on the market.

Unfortunately, eight years passed since Toyota introduced the FJ Cruiser meaning that the 2015 model year will be the last one for this incredible vehicle.

2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser Off Road Drive

The 2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser is not yet on the showroom floor. Actually, some sources claim the car will be available only in Australia and Toyota press release from the late 2013 confirmed that the US market will not have access to the 2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser. However, for those in Australia, we can safely say that the car will retain the main off road theme it had been born with.

Not much has been changed in terms of technology and looks, but we can bet the 2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser will be based upon the 2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser Trail Teams Ultimate Edition which was released as the final edition vehicle for the US in 2013. The car is dubbed as the most capable and best equipped FJ Cruiser of all times. That said, we know that the Toyota Racing Development team had something to do with this. The US 2014 FJ Cruiser comes equipped with the Bilstein Race Shocks and TDR springs. This setup ensured that the FJ Cruiser with its Land Cruiser Prado chassis and permanent all wheel drive with three Torsen differentials remains one of the most capable off roaders ever made available to the general public.

As much as its looks and its off road capabilities kept it ahead of other similarly styled cars, its interior remained one of the main low points. Hard plastic and rugged, almost spartan interior keeps its pace with the off road character, but it cannot be justified in the modern “connected” times. There are no modern car entertainment systems, or even an advanced infotainment system. Then again, those driving this car will be perfectly happy with over-sized controls, long shifter and large numbers on the instrument cluster.

The machine powering this large vehicle is a reliable four liter V6 engine delivering somewhere around 260 HP. The engine of 2015 Toyota FJ Cruiser is not the last hi-tech gizmo, but it is a simple and dependable piece of engineering highly respected among off road car enthusiasts.

As the 2015 FJ Cruiser is the swan song for this car, we do not expect it to be a sales hit. The US market devoured around 220.000 units and that is it for the Americans. The Australians will be the last to hear from this vehicle.
