2015 Volkswagen Jetta
Volkswagen Golf celebrates 40 years of existence in 2014. However, it is not the only Volkswagen compact car whose name is so powerfully imprinted into people’s heads. 2015 Volkswagen Jetta is there too. Jetta is based on the Golf. It features its suspension, engines, equipment and some of the cabin features. The car is highly popular in US. Actually, Jetta is the most sought after Volkswagen vehicle in the US and it is one of the most successful Volkswagen Group vehicles in the world. More than 900,000 units were sold only in 2013 which makes it extremely successful. The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta model for the US market received prominent and notable changes. The Germans changed it a lot. The looks were redefined by integrating new front and back bumpers. Also, some of the versions received bi-xenon headlights, while the LED rear lights remained the same.
Apart from “beautifying” Jetta, Volkswagen made everything that was possible to improve the efficiency of this vehicle. Redesigned bumpers brought active grille shutters which close and open in accordance with the engine needs. When cooling is needed, the shutters are open, but in all other instances the shutters are closed and channeling air around the vehicle basically making it more efficient and more slippery to the atmosphere. In addition, low rolling resistance tyres have been installed on every model which brought the fuel consumption down a bit. 2015 Volkswagen Jetta remained in offer with familiar engines including a two liter naturally aspirated unit, a 1,8 liter and a two liter turbocharged unit, with hybrid power and a two liter TDI Clean Diesel developing 150 HP.
The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta is the first Jetta in the world featuring SCR Catalytic converter. Basically, advanced gas re-circulation system enables the car to satisfy the extremely demanding emission standards LEV3. Reducing NOx with AdBlue, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta became one of the cleanest cars ever driven in the US.
Even though Volkswagen made significant exterior updates, 2015 Volkswagen Jetta remained very familiar and uninspiring. Volkswagen wants to market it as a sporty small sedan, but the look of this vehicle is not so exciting. The fastest version with a two liter turbocharged unit is the only sporty version you may find and that car is powered by an engine developing more than 200 HP. It is enough to make it as fast as the Scion FR-S, but Jetta will never reach the excitement of the small Japanese coupe.
Significant redesign brought a newly decorated interior, better driving dynamics and a better equipment. With blind spot detection, cross traffic alert and other safety systems, the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta came close to the excellence level of cars from the upper class. We cannot call it a premium car, but with well executed interior, beautiful new equipment and better aerodynamic features, 2015 Volkswagen Jetta came close to the level of the Audi A3 Sedan. We recon it is even more comfortable in comparison with the Audi A3, but the most important fact is that Jetta remained rather cheap and affordable which makes it a perfect candidate for the best family vehicle.
