Car Review- 2014 Nissan Qashqai
Nissan has upped their standards with the release of the new Qashqai. The 2014 Nissan Qashqai is done away with the prominent seven seated Qashqai model having replaced it with a 5 seated model. However, there are more things packed in the new Qashqai that make jaws drop. The styling for the Qashqai gives it a very up market look with raised height, roof rails and black plastic trims. The front has been sharpened along with angular headlamps with LED, and twin chrome bars for a grille. At the back, the tail gate and another set of LED lamps finish the look. The new Qashqai is available in three models depending on the kind of driving experience one wishes to enjoy. There is the Acenta, the Acenta Premium and the Tekna. The Acenta uses 17 inches alloy wheels while the Tekna has 19 inches alloy wheels. The Qashqai looks edgier than before, but still bears somewhat similarity to its predecessor.
Under the hood, in the 2014 Nissan Qashqai, there is a 1.2 L twin turbo charged engine with a six speed manual transmission that uses petrol, producing energy at 113 horsepower and a fuel efficiency of 50.4 mpg. The other option that of a 1.5 L dCi diesel turbo diesel engine of the Qashqai, produces energy of 108 horsepower and a fuel efficiency of 74.3 mpg. The Qashqai, therefore, has a rather laid back performance. This performance is in sync with other feature like the Active Ride Control, a low throw gearshift, and unhurried steering. For a big car as the Nissan Qashqai, there control over the car is more refined and contained. The interiors of the cars reflect the changes made in the exterior. As already mentioned, the 7 seat option has been replaced by a 5 seat option in the new variant. However, all those people seeking more room will not be disappointed since the boot room has been expanded by 20 L. You now have 430 L of boot room. The tail gate opens up high and creates enough space. The rear seats fold flat to create more space. The Qashqai has all the technological requirements fitted into it as well along with great driving positions and an intelligently constructed central console. Technologies also include sun roof, Bluetooth, rear cameras, traffic sign recognition, lane departure and front collision warning systems, and auto hi and low beam lights, drowsiness detection and blind spot warning. The Active Trace Control helps increase agility, braking of individual wheels in order to reduce under-steering and more positive turn in. the Active engine Brake function reduces jerkiness while travelling; while Body Motion Control keeps tabs on the brakes to move smoothly over the bumps in order to avoid much body movements.
There is another variant. The 1.6 L diesel engine of the Qashqai which is just as frugal in its fuel efficiency at 65.7 mpg as are the other variants of Qashqai. The new Nissan 5 seater Qashqai is a commendable crossover SUV with enough space for everyone and ensures a comfortable ride.
