Car Review: The 2015 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4
After almost a decade of immense success and about 15,000 satisfied customers to boast about, the Lamborghini Gallardo range of cars has finally been replaced with the new 2015 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4. The Huracán (pronounced as ‘who-rah-khan’) is named after a strong fighting bull back in 1879.
Engine and Speed:
The 2015 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 features a new direct injection and 502 liter V-10 engine that produces 601 hp at 8250 rpm. It can reach up to a peak torque of 413 lb-ft at 6500 rpm. This is better than its predecessor – the Gallardo LP570-4. The Huracán also features a new seven-speed dual clutch transmission – an upgrade from the slow-shifting single clutch auto in the Gallardo. The Huracán’s all-wheel drive system also combines with its powertrain to propel this car from 0 to 62 mph in a remarkable 3.2 seconds and only takes 9.9 seconds to reach 124 mph.
Weight and Fuel Efficiency:
The 2015 Lamborghini HuracánLP 610-4 shares a new aluminum and carbon fiber chassis with the next generation Audi R8, to help reduce the curb weight. The Huracán weighs 3135 pounds without fuel but the powerful engine means that it only carries 5.1 pounds per horsepower. This car is also more fuel efficient aided by its engine stop-start technology.
Avid Lamborghini fans will draw parallels between the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán’s design and the Aventador’s. The body is primarily made of sheet metal with trapezoidal air vents and sharp creases. The Huracán comes fitted with larger air scoops to cool the engine and rear brakes. The rear part of the Huracán is equally breath-taking with sleek LED taillights and enormous exhaust tips.
The interior of the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 is distinctive and classy. The seats, dashboard and door panels are made of Nappa leather and Alcantara. There is also a configurable 12.3-inch color instrument panel displaying car and entertainment data. Underneath the interior is a new, mostly aluminum, chassis that uses carbon fiber for the transmission tunnel and rear bulkhead. This material is used to enable it hit a torsional stiffness of 50 percent more and a weight loss of about 10 percent.
