Introducing the new 2015 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG
As one of the premier car manufacturing companies Mercedes-Benz does not disappoint with their new entry in the sedan category with the 2015 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG. The S class is already renowned for its performance, with the S65 AMG it only ups its performance with neck braking speed and guaranteed safety measures to counter the high speed. With the S65 AMG, ride like the wind as it jumps to 60 mph from dead stop in an impressive 4.2 seconds only. Now, where does all this power come from? What machinery is to be found under the hood?
The S65 AMG has a mind blowing 12 cylinder, twin turbo charged and 6.0 liter eng
ine. The 12 cylinder engine creates 621 horsepower energy at a massive 738 lb/ft of torque. All the energy is transmitted using a seven speed gearbox into the rear wheels that are controlled by shift paddles placed behind the steering wheel. This shifting provides for three driving experiences: Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S) and Manual. Each mode can be selected by the push of a button located in the centre of the console. The S65 AMG can race to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. Fuel efficiency for the S65 AMG has also been increased as compared to the prior S65 AMG from Mercedes-Benz, more because of the additions of the standard start and stop systems as well as the extra two gears.
The weight of the 2015 Mercedes Benz S65 AMG has been reduced and controlled by the use of aluminum panels that have been installed into the new S54 AMG. An additional 44 pounds have been cut down by replacing the previous order of a starter and a backup battery with a single lithium-ion unit. The interiors of the S65 AMG have been tastefully created by the use of Nappa leather upholstery inclusive of diamond quilting; along with the AMG specific features that include the instrument cluster, front spot seats and two spoke steering wheels. The AMG logo is to be found embossed on the centre armrest. The interiors also constitute two huge 12.3 inches TFT (thin film transistor) screens that are hung in front of the driver and on top of the centre stack. The left hand unit replaces the regular instrument cluster while the right hand unit of the screen displays the climate, entertainment, and Navigation and Google maps. Buyers can choose between regular bench passenger seats or reclining, executive-style seats with heating, ventilating and hot stone massage as found in the front seats. Wireless AKG headsets, warm or cold cup holders and pillow headrests as well as fold out tray tables are also available should you so choose. The S65 AMG also comes with a first standard road surface scan, in terms of safety controls. The exterior of the S65 AMG may seem similar to the S63 AMG, however, take a keener look and you will notice the high gloss chrome used on the front splitter, variation in the rear air diffuser and the tail pipes as well as the trim on the rocker panels and the radiator grille distinctly stand out. The S65 AMG also employs 20 inches alloy wheels.
The 2015 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG is mostly aimed at buyers looking for a luxurious experience within a controlled budget, having made some comprehensive tweaking.
