The 2015 Cadillac ATS Sedan Is As Premium As It Needs To Be
Developed to compete with the best compact executive sedans from the premium niche such as the BMW 3 series, the Mercedes C-class and the Audi A4, the 2015 Cadillac ATS received similar dimensions as the German competitors, it gained similarly powerful engines and very refined luxurious cabin. As the vehicle is aimed for a fight on the US car market, it received some rather important US special features highly valued by the customers. First of all, Cadillac decided to offer an entry level version powered by a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine. Being a premium model, this engine is powered up to 202 HP and 190 Nm of torque thus making even the entry level car a rather potent vehicle which is, of course, more powerful than any of the nearest counterparts.
As the CTS is Cadillac’s smallest vehicle, GM had to develop an all-new platform underpinning the thing. Alpha platform was created and the car brings some of very important tech which is used by the new CTS and which will be used by the sixth generation Camaro. Three years have passed since its introduction and for the 2015 model year, Cadillac reasonably refreshed the ATS. The exterior has been adjusted by incorporating larger grill, changing the crest and by adding much more subtle and much more elegant decorative elements to the lower part of the bumper. The rear has been slightly modified but nothing too flashy was added. All in all, the striking look with the sharp lines and clearly aggressive stance has been kept and the ATS still remains one of the purest and most dignified Cadillacs of all times.
The 2015 Cadillac ATS Sedan certainly is an important car for the Caddy. That is why most of revisions have been done under the metal where the car received much more up to date equipment. Most notably, the new generation of drivers will highly value 4G wi-fi capability and wireless phone charger. Basically, if you have a phone with enabled wireless charging you’d be able to charge it up just by putting the phone on the designated place on the console. That is a cool stuff, isn’t it?
Apart from the base version powered by a 2.5 liter four cylinder engine, the second bestselling Cadillac vehicle is available with the two liter turbocharged engine. The engine produces 272 HP and 295 lb ft of torque (a major increase of torque compared with the 2014 Cadillac ATS). This engine is important for one other thing also. It is the only engine in the Cadillac ATS line up which can be mated with manual six speed transmission (the other two are exclusively available with six speed automatic transmission). Besides this “24 mpg” engine, the 2015 Cadillac ATS can be had with the large 3.6 liter V6 developing in excess of 320 HP and 274 lb ft of torque. This is of course the most powerful engine for the 2015 Cadillac ATS Sedan and it can deliver some serious performance with acceleration to 60 in 5.7 seconds. Both, turbocharged engine and the V6 are available with the all-wheel drive.
As before, the car is available with four different trim level with the base version equipped with things like automatic headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, automatic climate control, powered seats up front, OnStar, 4G Wi-Fi capability, Bluetooth phone connectivity and a Bose sound system. Of course, upper trims bring some high end elements such as head up display, adaptive suspension and a limited-slip diff.
