The 2015 Chevrolet Suburban Is Enormous But More Efficient And More Practical Than Ever Before

Twelfth generation! Yes, that is right! How many cars on earth have that luxury to reach twelve generations!? A special few and one of them is a Suburban. When it was revealed in September 2013, the Suburban was celebrating its eightieth birthday. This car has been in production since 1933 and its name became like an imprint in human mind. You don’t have to love it, drive it or even make any interest in it, but it’s clear as water that you know about it. Over its impressive life cycles many different version were produced and the car grew in accordance with the needs. Sometimes in the Fifties it broke the mark of 200 inches in length and the newest one follows the tradition of growth. It measured 224.4 inches in length thus became one of the biggest, if not the biggest, series production SUV in the world.

As before even the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban is based upon the same platform as the Cadillac Escalade which means it can carry some serious luxury features in the interior that is large enough for nine people. Interestingly, the nine passenger layout isn’t available for any other trim level except for the entry LS trim, but it is safe to assume that that will change in the future.

Nevertheless, the 2015 Chevrolet Suburban certainly has something to show about. Its impressive body received a new front end and a slightly revised back. It doesn’t look as composed or as elegant as the smaller mid-size SUVs, but it is handsome enough regarding its sheer size and drama it clearly produces wherever it comes. With enormous 22 inch wheels (available for the LTZ trim), the Suburban truly is a remarkable vehicle only a few will ever need and even less than that will ever utilize its full capacity.

Even though the car received much of the new equipment sourced directly from the luxurious Escalade, the new Suburban certainly lacks the composure and premium feel inside in the lower trim levels. That is sad because the nine seat version can be had only with the entry trim level and at other end of price list sites that LTZ which is filled with stuff such as magnetic suspension, xenon lights, heated and ventilated front seats, as well as premium Bose surround-sound system. Of course, the buyers can opt for even more equipment such as navigation system, rear entertainment with blue ray recorder and even Theft-Deterrent package which makes the Suburban thief repellent… sort of.

As before, the old fashioned V8 power is still on tap, but this time 5.3 liter eight cylinder is absolutely refined to provide exceptional fuel efficiency while still delivering enough power for all the occupants, more than 5000 lbs of weight and enough power to tow more than 8000 lbs. 355 HP and 383 lbs ft of torque is clearly enough and this is the only engine available for the 2015 Suburban. Luckily, the engine is connected with modern six speed transmission and the car is available as a two wheel drive or a four wheel drive SUV. It is remarkable that GM succeeded to bring down the fuel consumption to the level of 18 mpg combined which is on par with some smaller SUVs.

At the end of the day, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban is a large people hauler which can be luxurious, it can serve up to nine people, and it can provide a cargo volume of mind bending of 121 cubic feet (with all the back rows stowed). It is a remarkable car and it seems that it is able to live on for the decades to come.
