Ferrari is possibly the most recognizable car brand in the world. Succeeding the mind bogglingly fast Ferrari F430, the Ferrari 458 Italia was improved in every measurable way. Actually, Fiorano test track run proved that the 458 Italia is actually faster than the supercar Ferrari Enzo which was revealed in 2002. Achieving such impressive results wasn’t easy and Ferrari had to re-imagine the whole car.
With all new chassis, redesigned suspension and rather impressive active aerodynamics, the 458 Italia became much lighter, nimbler and better suited for the track and for fast driving than any of its predecessors. Interestingly, the car has been available on the market for almost six years and just before Ferrari revealed the 488 GTB, the last 2015 Ferrari 458 Italia hit the market.
Five years on the market was marked with the introduction of a number of different versions including the incredible 458 Speciale and a real looker the Ferrari 458 Spider. However, over the course of five years, Ferrari upgraded some of the elements of the car thus providing the 2015 458 Italia with the best possible engine, sorted out suspension and the transmission with special Launch Control system which enables the car to accelerate to 60 in around 3 seconds.
The heart of this car remains the magnificently beautiful and hand built 4.5 liter V8 engine which with power of 125 HP per liter offers almost mind-bending 571 HP and 398 lb ft of torque. Sending power to the rear wheels via the seven speed dual clutch gearbox and through electronically controlled limited slip diff, the 458 Italia can provide some serious performance and enable astonishing driving characteristic matched only by the best competition coming from Germany and from Great Britain.
Even though the car was designed and made to provide the best possible performance, the technology and the creature comforts inside show that Ferrari really made a great effort to make the 458 as user friendly as possible. That is why the driver can adjust the suspension to a Comfort mode, put the AC at the best possible setting and enjoy the drive with the automatic wipers, a number of nice driving aids and exceptionally well sorted out cabin with leather, electronically adjusted seats and even hand rests.
All in all, the 2015 Ferrari 458 Italia is still one of the most amazing and most astonishing supercars despite being five years on the market. Lightweight construction, exceptional build quality and the most advanced technology makes this car one of the best machines ever created by a man. And, of course, it looks the best in red.
