The 2015 Porsche Cayman – One Step Ahead
The all new 2015 Porsche Cayman is pretty similar to Porsche 911 when it comes to look and the way it performs on the road. But what makes it different is the price tag it carries. The vehicle comes with a lower price without compromising on quality. But what exactly contributes to a better performance and lesser price? The answer to that is its tuning which is extremely sharp, lightweight construction and mid-engine configuration. This two-seater demon has all the fun that the drivers look for, which makes it one of the most wanted vehicles in the market.
The Cayman family welcomes a new member, in the form of latest GTS. What sets it apart from others is the higher amount of horsepower, sports seats, 20-inch wheels by Carrera and the entire cabin uses Alcantara fabric.
The standard version of the 2015 Porsche Cayman comes with a 6-cylinder engine (horizontally opposed) that can produce up to 275 hp and the torque of 213 lb-ft, all because of the modest curb weight, weighing around 2,888 lbs. The transmission in the base version of Cayman is 6-speed manual with which the vehicle gives 20 mpg in the city, whereas on the highway it gives 30 mpg. With the dual-clutch 7-speed gearbox, the vehicle gives 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
The drivers opting for the S version get an even more powerful engine, a 3.4-L capable of producing up to 325 HP and the torque of273 lb-ft. The S model of Cayman gives 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway with the 6-speed manual, whereas with 7-speed dual-clutch it is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
GTS and Cayman S both contain the same engine, however; GTS is one step ahead when it comes to horsepower, producing about 340 HP and the torque of 280 lb-ft. Heading over to fuel-economy, EPA estimates 19 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway for the GTS with the manual 6-speed transmission, whereas, the dual-clutch 7-speed automatic returns 22 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
The base version of the 2015 Porsche Cayman is available in the market for $53,595 with a 2.7 L engine and a standard transmission of 6-speed manual, whereas 7-speed dual clutch is available as an option. Seconds on the list is Cayman S, which is available in the market for $64,795 with a 6-cylinder 2.7-L engine along with the transmission options same as the base version. Last on the List is GTS which is pricier than the rest but produces more horsepower, wheels by Carrera S, sport seats, exceptional exterior work and plenty more for buyers. It is available in the market for $76,195.
The 2015 Porsche Cayman gives you full value for your money. With the typical Porsche look and exceptional performance, the Porsche is certainly turning up the heat and giving its competitors a tough time.
