The 2015 Tesla Model S P85D Is Literally Insane
It is not cheap, it needs a LOT of time to recharge, but it is a better, happier and more unconventional car than any other you have ever seen. And yes, it has an insane mode, in a car. Insane mode! That’s something that should never happen, but it did and it’s awesome.
Many thought that Tesla Motor Company just might be the type of car manufacturer that would cease to exist after only a few years on the market. However, despite the problems they had (and have) with car selling network, supercharger stations and delays (the Model X has been delayed more than once), Tesla became a symbol of prosperity, a symbol of better world we can build tomorrow and a symbol of way of transportation which everyone will embrace sooner or later.
The 2015 Tesla Model S P85D currently sits on top of the electric car pyramid. It is the fastest, the baddest, the most amazing and the most appealing electric car the world has ever seen. Actually, the world saw great electric cars before, but the Tesla Model S P85D is a series production family car that became supercar-like cool.
Two electric engines, one at the front axle and one at the back, make the Tesla Model S P85D a four wheel drive car which means that the grip is better than on any other similar family car. And when you spice up the grip with 691 hp (515 kW) and 687 lbs ft. (931 Nm) the things go mad very quickly. Just to give you a glimpse of the brutality that the two electric engines in combination with the four wheel drive can do we will tell you that the large 4.936 lbs Tesla Model S is faster of the line to 60 mph than any Audi R8, than any Bentley, or than any Chevy and that is something you have to appreciate. 3.1 seconds is the time needed for the 2015 Model S P85D to reach 60 mph, but even more amazing than that is the time needed for the P85D to reach 30 mph. 1.1 second! It is almost instant and the brutality of it can be seen on numerous Youtube video showing passenger reactions of the car accelerating from zero.
It is hard to concentrate on “normal” stuff when presenting the 2015 Tesla Model S P85D. The car is so,… well, Insane that its family hauler characteristics are just a bonus to supercar-like behavior on the roads.
With five seats (or seven if you order two at the back), enormous space inside and very cozy ambiance that feels similar to that in the premium cars, the Tesla Model S P85D is almost a perfect family sedan. The only thing that the buyers might get and don’t want is a range anxiety issue. The 2015 Tesla Model S P85D is rated at 253 miles on one charge, which is great, actually incredible for an electric car, but charging time for the 85 kWh battery is at 4.5 hours at best ( with 240 V High Power Wall Connector and twin charger setup installed on the car). Interestingly, Tesla build a supercharger network all over the world and the supercharger network enables batteries to be recharged in only an hour.
All in all, the 2015 Tesla Model S P85D is almost an egzotic car with the supercar level of performance and a price that is high. However, the price is not that high considering the performance and the overall concept of the car. That is why this thing went viral and everyone wants it.
