The 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser Is An Off Road Monster Which Can Tackle The Road Equally Well
Land Cruiser is the same for off road like the Apollo 11 is for space exploration – an icon without which nothing would be the same. When Toyota introduced the newest generation back at the end of the 2007 on the Canary Island, the world was amazed. The new car brought more of everything – more power, more weight, better off road system and, finally, a wonderfully luxurious cabin which wasn’t a strong point for the Land Cruisers of the past. Now, almost eight years after, the Toyota Land Cruiser is still trying hard to reach the buyers. Over the seven years period, Toyota succeeded to sell almost 20.000 units in the US and as Toyota works on the new generation that the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser is the one you should go after this year.
The changes in comparison with the older car aren’t big, but with the integration of the LED lights, some additional luxurious equipment such as bluetooth, rear parking camera, parking sensors, navigation system, HD radio with Entune, etc. in 2013, Land Cruiser really stepped the game up. However, Land Cruiser is one of the few real off roaders left on the market (with the Jeep Wrangler and the Mercedes G-class being the other two ), but with the last generation Toyota certainly forged a path into the new segment of luxurious SUVs such as the Mercedes GL, or even the Cadillac Escalade. The fact is that the need for off road monsters such as the Land Cruiser isn’t that big these days, but the need for the enormous SUVs with tow rating of a truck and with power of a Tyrannosaurus Rex is bigger than ever. So, apart from comparing the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser with the off road monsters, we could easily compare it with the similarly priced large SUVs on the market.
Interestingly, the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser can tackle these SUVs as well. The car is powered with the 5.7 liter V8 churning out 386 HP. Connected with a six speed automatic, the engine is powerful enough to haul the off roader weighing more than 5.700 lbs with ease. Of course, the fuel consumption value isn’t anything you’d be proud of (13/18 mpg), but the body on frame layout and powerful engine promise one thing for sure – a towing capability of 8.500 lbs. Really, if you have enough money for a car of this kind than there is a good chance that you’ll have something to tow with it – like a boat or a race car. If more seats are what you are after, than the Land Cruiser can cover you there too. Seven seats are inside and when the third row is folded, the cargo capacity is almost 83 cubic feet. Not as much as in the minivan, but good enough.
However, the Land Cruiser did not forget from where it comes. Actually, it remembers very well all of its epic off road voyages from the past and the 2015 Land Cruiser certainly delivers the off road experience like no other of roader in the world. Specially developed off road systems are the backbone of the off road capability of the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser. The car can be equipped with the full time four wheel drive system, torsen limited slip locking center differential, low range transfer case, skid plates, hill start assist, hill descent control, Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (which hydraulically adjust front and back stabilizer bars resistance, thus keeping the wheels on the ground), Crawl Control, off road turn assist that brakes inner wheel enhancing the turn and finally, it has a 8.5 inch ground clearance.
Not a lot of cars in the world are equipped with such a complement of off road equipment and that proves that the 2015 Toyota Land Cruiser packs a hell of punch for its money.
