The 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible – A Car for Everyone

Nothing could be more retro than the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible. Undoubtedly, it is one of the head-turning vehicles out there on the road. But it’s not just about the looks; there is a lot more to this vehicle than just a pretty appearance. When you have gotten over the way it looks, you will realize it is equally good from the inside as well as under the hood.

One of the major reasons why the latest 2015 Volkswagen Beetle convertible falls in the impressive category is because of what it contains inside the hood. The company has made a major update, giving it a diesel turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which adds 10 more horsepower to the vehicle. Not only that, the fuel economy also improves a great deal with the vehicle giving 34 mpg combined. If you are not a fan of diesel, the 1.8-L turbocharged engine is perhaps what you need, which comes as standard and offers a perfect combination of power and economy.

The interior of the vehicle is also one of the major talking points, unlike many common cars in the market; the beetle stands out with its exquisitely designed interior with quality materials and easy controls.

Like every vehicle, the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible has its weak points too. With the coupe, it is very difficult to visualize through the rear window as it is very small and with convertible it is impossible as the rear view is completely blocked. Whether the top is up or down, drivers are not able to see what’s behind them. Therefore, it is recommended for drivers to opt for rear-view camera, however, this particular feature has just been added, if your beetle wasn’t manufactured recently, it may not contain one. If you are too particular about the driving details, you may be a little disappointed with the beetle. Although the vehicle comes with powerful engines, it may not be ideal around sharp turns. The brakes and the steering wheel do not make you feel like you are in control completely.

The engine that comes with the 2015 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible is a 1.8-L turbocharged four-cylinder (1.8T) which is capable of producing up to 170 hp and the torque if 184 lb-ft.  The standard transmission on the coupe is five-speed manual combined with 1.8T, whereas the option of six-speed automatic is also available. When it comes to fuel economy, the coupe returns 25 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with the automatic transmission and 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway with manual five-speed. The only transmission available with the convertible is automatic, combine that with 1.8 T and you will get 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

The safety features offered standard with the Beetle are stability and traction control, airbags (front and side), anti-lock disc brakes and many others. In short, the vehicle contains all the modern safety features, which makes it one of the safest cars to drive on the road.
