The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg Isn’t Premium, But It’s Close

As one of the most successful mid-size SUVs on the market Volkswagen Touareg tends to be affordable, well rounded, nicely sculpted, well equipped and aggressive. More than ten years Volkswagen succeeded to keep its bestselling SUV in line with market requirements and when they’ve revealed a second generation model which was thoroughly modified in comparison with the one that was revealed in 2002, the demand for the car has risen even more. Sales results are favorable. More than 720.000 units of this magnificent car have been made and the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg received some more changes and styling modifications to keep the customers satisfied and to keep sales on track.

The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg is an overall updated vehicle. Those who see it for the first time might recognize some of its styling elements from other modern Volkswagens and the effect is most obvious on the front grill and lower part of the bumper. Trapezoid shape lower air intake clearly is inherited from the most recent Volkswagen vehicles and while it calms down the mobster and aggressive look a bit it actually acts as a perfectly well formed element that induces a dash of elegance and sophistication much needed for the type of a car Touareg is. Of course, swiftly looking front end remained dominant, but the rear end and the sides also attain a modern looking feel dominated with clear and sharp edges and famously conservative Volkswagen lines that somehow play a pivotal role in the designing world of the Volkswagen vehicles.

In the interior the play of elegance, conservative stance and top notch quality is continued and while the Touareg lacks some luxury features often found in luxury premium midsize SUV, it certainly compensates for it by the simple yet well-crafted cabin. In comparison with some of its newer counterparts, the 2015 Volkswagen Touareg lacks the third row seating. It’s a five seater all the way and it seems that its rear seats offer plenty of room even for basketball players. That said, the car is surely well made for any transportation job and, most importantly, it won’t fail to deliver any goods even if it hits some kind of off road terrain.

Thanks to its Haldex AWD system the car can maintain a high level off on road comfort and it certainly can provide rather nice fuel consumption levels. Especially noteworthy is a Touareg with three liter diesel engine with 240 HP and 406 lb ft of torque. Touareg with V6 TDI can provide combined fuel consumption level of 23 mpg. A bit more powerful (280 HP) 3.6 liter V6 petrol engine provides much better acceleration and performance, but it lacks the fuel efficiency of the TDI engine. Interestingly, hybrid version is available too. It is not as fuel efficient as the V6 TDI but with 380 HP it is easily the most powerful Touareg available. It can accelerate to 62 mph in less than 6 seconds and it is able to travel using electricity up to 31 mph.

The 2015 Volkswagen Touareg clearly is one of the most impressive mid-size SUVs on the market. It lacks the perfection level of premium SUVs, but it is priced at much lower level while it brings driving enjoyment and equipment close to those on premium SUVs.
